Apostles of Bahaullah

The Apostles of Bahá’u’lláh were nineteen eminent early followers of Bahá’u’lláh. The apostles were designated by Shoghi Effendi and are also termed ‘Pillars of the Faith’.

These individuals played a vital role in the development of the Faith, consolidating its adherents and bringing its teachings around the world. The List is as follows:

1. Mírzá Músá, ‘Bahá’u’lláh’s ‘only true brother’

2. Badí‘, the bearer of Bahá’u’lláh’s letter to Nasiru’d-Din Shah

3. Sultánu’sh-Shuhada’.

4. Hájí Amín, called ‘faithful steward’ of Bahá’u’lláh and `Abdu’l-Bahá

5. Mírzá Abu’l-Fadl, Foremost Bahá’í scholar

6. Varqá, ‘poet, teacher.

7. Mírzá Mahmúd, the defender of the Faith

8. Hají Ákhúnd.

9. Nabíl-i-Akbar, ‘learned and steadfast exponent of the Bahá’í Revelation’

10. Vakílu’d-Dawlih, ‘Kabir-i-Afnan’,\'chief builder’ of the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár of ‘Ishqábád

11. Ibn-i-Abhar, a teacher.

12. Nabíl-i-A’zam, ‘poet, historian, and teacher of the Faith’

13. Samandar, called favoured of Bahá’u’lláh’

14. Mírzá Mustafá, the bearer of the remains of the Báb’

15. Mishkín-Qalam, calligrapher and Bahá’u’lláh’s companion-in exile

16. Adíb, ‘the teacher of the Cause’

17. Shaykh Muhammad-’Alí, ‘the champion of the Faith in Russian Turkistan’

18. Zaynu’l-Muqarrabín, ‘the chief among the exiles of Mosul

19. Ibn-i-Asdaq, the advocate’ of the Covenant
