Her Birth, names, Childhood and Narrations about her from Sunni and Shia narrations:

Her Birth:
Fatima (s.a.) is the daughter of the Holy messenger of Allah, Muhammad ibn Abdullah (s.a.w.a.) and Khadija bint al-Khuwaylid (s.a.). She was born on the 20th of Jamadiul Akhar, 5 AH (the fifth year of hijrah).

Her names:
Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “In the presence of Allah, she is known by 9 names, which are Fatima, Siddiqah, Mubaraka, Tahera ,Zakiya, Radiya, Mohaddatha and Zahra.”
Abu Jafar Qomi (Muhammad bin Husain, known as Abu Ja’far, writer and poet residing in Nishabor) has stated other names for her: “Batool, Hisna, Harah, Sayyidah, Azra, Haura, Maryam, Kubra, Sadiqah, Nuriya, Samiwiya wal Haniya.” Her epithets are as: “Umm al-Hasan (Hasan’s mother), Umma al-A’emma (mother of Imams) and Umme Abiha (father’s Mother).

Her Childhood:

When she was 5 years old, her mother passed away. Fatima bint Asad(s.a.) (the wife of Prophet’s uncle and mother of Imam Ali(a.s.)) undertook to care for her. They migrated with Imam Ali(a.s.) and other Muslims from Mecca to Medina. After the death of Fatima bint Asad(s.a.), the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) entrusted Umme Salamah (his second wife) with her care.

Narrations about Fatima Al Zahra (A.S.) from Sunni and Shia narrations:

“Fatima is part of me. Whatever upsets her upsets me and whatever harms her harms me.” Sahih Muslim,v.5,p.54.

The Holy Prophet (P.H.):

“Fatima is part of me. Whoever harms her harms me.” Al-Sunan Al-Kubra. V, 10.

The Holy Prophet (P.H.):

“Fatima is part of me and she is my heart and the soul which is between my two sides.” Nur-al-Absar, P.52.

The Holy Prophet (P.H.):

“ O’ Fatima, verily God is angry when you are angry.” Al-Sawaiq Al-Muhariqa, p.175.

“Fatima is the head of the women of my nation.” Sahih Muslim

The rights of minorities in Iran

Mohammad Javad Larijani, the secretary-general of the Iranian High Council for Human Rights, has rejected “any form of discrimination and violation of rights, due to being a Baha’i” in Iran, and said that people are not deprived of education or put on trial solely because of being Baha’is. According to the Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA), on Sunday April 6, Mr. Larijani, referring to reports of violations of the rights of minorities in Iran, said “reports on Iranian human rights stating that the rights of minorities are being violated are blatant lies, are racist and sectarian, and are contrary to human rights standards.” He emphasized that the Baha’i Faith is not a recognized religion, saying: ”officials have never oppressed anyone because of being a Baha’i, as they believe that under the constitution every Iranian citizen has some rights, and they cannot be deprived of their rights, as stated in the constitution.”

Human Rights in Iran

Due to international attention to the situation of human rights in Iran, Javad Larijani made a  statement to the domestic media, acknowledging Baha’is are entitled to equal rights under the constitution. Addressing the foreign audiences, Javad Larijani claimed that the persecution and prosecution of Baha’is is not due to their faith and that Baha’i students are not barred from access to higher education. In an interview with the Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA), Larijani said: “The authorities never target Baha’is just because they are followers of this faith, because according to the Constitution, all Iranian citizens are entitled to certain rights and cannot be deprived of rights stipulated in the constitution.”
