The Excellency Abdul Baha says; “… Men and women are equal and none of them is superior to the other. Because all of them are human beings and need to be educated…”

     He also says: “… Some confess women aren’t equal to men concerning ability and have been created weaker than men. This is a mere illusion. The difference between them is due to their education. As long as women deprives of the mundane advancement rights and privilege, the circumstance is so. Eventually, the human world won’t advance fundamentally except there exists equality between men and women…”

     Based on the above-mentioned statements this questions is naturally posed that: Despite such teachings, why are women deprived of being the member of the universal house of justice? The definite answer is that: According to the verses of the book “Aqdas”, the members of the universal house of justice must be elected among men and, according to Abdul Baha, its reason will be revealed in the future. The Excellency guardian of the faith answered this question on July, 5, 1947 message: “people must accept that women aren’t merited to be the member of the universal house of justice and we must accept it because the Excellency Abdul Baha have said its philosophy will be revealed in the future. We are also unable to offer any justification to alleviate the opposition of the supporters of women movement… .”

     Consequently, the real reason for the lack of women’s presence in the universal house of justice hasn’t been mentioned. The universal house of justice has been silent regarding this issue instead of solving the problems.

     Regarding this issue, there are many comments criticizing the lack of women’s presence in the universal house of justice:

     Why all of them are men? … This contradiction must be solved!... Why there isn’t any woman among them? … Why women absent in the photo?... All are men?!!!...

     Some contradictions regarding the equality of men and women are stated in the book Aqdas:

1)   Women are exempt for pilgrimage.

2)   The heritage isn’t divided equally among sons and daughters. Sons inherit more.

3)   The elder son inherits the parents’ house.

4)   Men are allowed to have two wives at the same time.

     Which of the above-mentioned commandments indicate the equality of men and women!!!
