Seyyed Ali Muhammad Bab’s trial

After raising a disturbance in different regions of Iran due to Bab’s sedition, Seyyed Ali Muhammad Bab brought to Tabriz Chehriq fortification, according to Amir the great’s order. Naseruddin Shah who was crown prince at that time ordered for a meeting participating the scholars of Azarbayjan to be held. He also ordered to bring Bab to investigate and know about his thoughts and beliefs. He asked to debate with the scholars-who were mainly followers of Shiekieh cult.

Naseralddin Mirza –the crown prince- sent a report of the meeting for his father Muhammad Shah which is as follows:

May I be sacrificed in your place… First, Hajj Mulla Mahmoud asked: You are says you are Imam Zaman’s deputy and stated some words indicating you are Imam and prophet. Bab said: Yes, my friend. I am the deputy of Imam and Imam’s gate. What I’ve said and you’ve heard are true. You must obey me. I swear by God I am the same person for whom everybody was waiting. Then they asked what are your miracles. He said: I sent down verses for my stick and started reciting: In the name of God. Glory to God who created the heavens and the earth as He created the stick that is a sign of His signs!!! Ali Muhammad Bab recited the final vowels of Arabic words falsely. Amir Arsalan said: I can also recite such words. These aren’t verses. Bab ashamed. Then he was asked about some scientific issues. But he couldn’t answer. When the gathering finished, Bab was punished and he repented…

Bab’s repentence letter has been kept in the library of the national consultative Assembly. Bab was AHasent to prison.
