It is surprising for Makhmalbaf not to be in Israel. It doesn’t need any excuses for him to be in Israel. Anyway, he considers Israel as landlord.

According to a report by Israeli Haaretz newspaper on Sunday Mehr, 12, Haifa film festival holds for ten day every year coincided with the Jewish celebration “Sukkot†earlier fall.

It isn’t so surprising that the Israeli paid attention to Makhmalbaf when he participated in London festival for the first time. It is surprising that Israeli have paid an exorbitant expenditure to pay a special attention to an Iranian director.
