Baha’ism and the youth crisis
Bahaismiran:
One of the problems with which most countries in the world have faced so far is the emergence of cults and hidden organizations. This issue has extremely affected the youth and adolescent population of each country. The Islamic Republic of Iran hasn’t been safe due to the fatal influence of such organization. For instance, People’s Mujahedin Iran has been nowadays recognized as a terroristic one. The sufistic cults, newly-emerged mysticism. Baha’ism and etc. the Iranian Baha’i organization is allowed to use free education in elementary, guidance and high schools despite of its treacheries. However, how is it possible to be safe against the threats of this organization against the mental health of the Iranian youth and adolescents? Margaret Thaler Singer states in her book called “Cults in our Midst: “According to studies, nearly two third of those who have turned to cults and joined are from families having usual and normal relationships. They have behaved proportionately based on their ages. Five to six percent out of the rest one third had mental problems before joining the cult. The rest was suffered from depression due to:
1) Missing a member of their families, or not being able to continue higher educations, …
2) The crises regarding their ages; e.g., occupational crises, …
Tension is another harmful factor alongside with certain family background which affects the youth more than any other groups. The life contradictions, the world complexities and the number of contrasts they confront in daily life have been revealed at these ages.†According to Singer, the adults have the same conditions. Nowadays, the adults who are more perplexed than the adolescent can’t find anything to be joined in today industrial culture.
Consequently, the unstable social and economic conditions have caused the usual crises of life which lead to attracting new members among adolescents, youth and even adults.
Anyway, some organizations such as Baha’ism which has had a shameful background at least during the years after the victory of the Islamic revolution has had a clear and obvious conditions. They have been deprived of higher educations in order for the public health of the Iranian community to be kept safe and sound.
