Veil (cover) in human societies and in the deviant cult of Baha’ism
Bahaismiran:
Cover is an issue which has been change into a pretext for governments and politician to demonstrate their powers in today’s world. Of course, cover is one of the important issues of the humane communities and a religious problem for security and mental health of men. There have human beings who have misused the earnest and crutial problems of the society throughout the history in order to unaware dominate and gather several disciples for themselves; so this issue caused us to investigate the cover issue as one of the important problems for you to judge.
God has stated: “Being known as a nice woman†and being protected against torment “are of essential and general reasons for cover:
“O’prophet! Tell they wives and they daughters and the woman of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, that so they may be recognized and not annoyed. Allah is ever forgiving, Merciful. (Al-Ahzab/59)
It should be mentioned that cover, especially for women, isn’t just a subject emphasized in Islam; but it is an innate principle. (Because no woman isn’t willing for another woman to expose herself for her own husband; although, a man is enjoying the sexual attractions of women; but he doesn’t like for his sister, mother and wife’s bodies to be exposed for other men to enjoy. Consequently, cover has been an essential principle and unavoidable principle not only before Islam; but also from the beginning of creation.
If we glance at the historical books, we will observe that the Jewish, Christian, different tribes, the owners of civilization including the old Iranians have been covered.
The historians have tried to mention reasons for cover in order to reject the principle of “the innate virtue and intellectual necessity†of cover. For example, they have written: “The Jewish people put their wives into black veils and carried them into boxes in order to be protected. The Christian people also were covered. The Christians of Medina weren’t covered because they were the Jewish people’s slaves and their lords didn’t let them be coverd and cover was just used for the rich women.
Another historian writes: “Yes, the Iranian women were covered at that period of time; that is, veil.[1]
According the historical text, in previous civilizations and religions of the world especially in various dynasties of the ancient Iran among Mades, Achaemenian, Arsacide, Sassanide cover has been common among women; additionally, it is obvious that cover hasn’t entered into Iran through Islam; but the Iranian ladies have been vailed in the ancient periods. They have been special style of cover based on the climatic, social and occupational conditions. Their cover sorts can be observed in the ancient periods of time via the remained scriptions in ancient places, (Naqsh Rostam, Perspolis and Naqshe Rajab and etc.) dishes, statues and protected sculptures at museums. Their cover kinds can be also detected and seen after Islam through valid books and sources such as Shahnameh of Ferdosi.
However, the Baha’is have misused this issue because they were the first cult in Iran that proposed unveiling under the title of women’s freedom. In constitution period of time a command issued by Abdul Baha that prevented that Iranian woman having cover, this Baha’is action is considered as for runner for Reza Khan’s order for unveiling.
In a tablet written by Bab and sent to Tehran city, Bahaullah writes: “The freedom of women is on the pillars of Baha’ism! And I have sent my daughter “Rouha†top Europe in order to be a model for the Iranian ladies… If a woman expresses freedom in Iran, she will be torn quickly; so it is our disciples’ duty to increase women’s freedom day by day.â€[2]
When the tablet was received in Tehran, Baha’is shouted and roared. Ibn Abha established freedom assembly. Taj-al-Saltaneh, king Naseruddin’s daughter, was participating in this assembly. These meetings caused scandals; too much that some Baha’is opposed: “These assemblies are against chastity and those who established them are fornicators.â€[3]
Consequentlly, it is interesting to be noted that an important issue such as cover [:Hijab] has been a value in every period of time; but in the deviant cult of Baha’ism it has become a means to deviate people Baha’is assume unveiled women as civilized ones.
