Bahaismiran:

Trying to reject the finality of the holy prophet (P.H.) based on the Quranic verse, the Baha’i proselytizer claimed for the difference between “prophet” and “messenger” . He continued: “prophet gives news about God on the condition that he doesn’t possess the book and the legislation; but the messenger has been sent on a mission by God on the condition that he has the holy book.” Consequently, according to the Baha’i proselytizer’s claim the verse is going to state the finality of prophethood not to state the finality of prophetic mission. So, other prophet may be sent after the holy prophet of Islam.[1]

     The answer to the claim:

1)   According to the Quranic literature, the prophet like Lot, Elijah, Jonah and Ishmael (although they haven’t possessed the holy book and religious law) have been called the messenger[2].

2)   In the holy Quran, the word prophet has been used to describe the messenger:

"... فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ ... " (اعراف/ 158)

So, believe in Allah and the messenger, the prophet who can neither read nor write…” [Al-A’raf/158]

And we also encounter the verse:

" الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ ..." (اعراف/ 157)

“Those who follow the messenger, the prophet who can neither read nor write…” [Al-A’raf/157]

3)   How can the religious law of Islam and sending down the holy Quran be justified if the Excellency Muhammad (P.H.) is the mere seal of the prophets?! Indeed, each messenger is also a prophet. That is, when it is said that the prophet will not come it means that the messenger won’t come, too.[3]

4)    In verse 40, Surarh Al-Ahzab, the Excellency Muhammad (peace be upon him and his descendents has been called as both the prophet, the messenger and the seal of the prophets.

" مَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ... " (احزاب/40)

“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the Prophets.” [Al-Ahzab/40]
