"اَنَا مدینتهُ الْعِلم و علیٌ بابُها"

     Has been said it for me and my legitimacy.

     Prince Dalgourki says so about his familiarity with Ali Muhammad Bab:

     “I thought what is the reason for the a few numbers of Shiite who have dominated on a government like the Ottoman. Then, I found that such triumphs are due to the religious unity and their firm belief in Islam religion… I decided to create a new religion without home. Because the Iranian conquests were due to patriotism and religious unity… (After being familiar with Ali Muhammad in the holy Shrines in Iraq) Seyyed Ali didn’t quit my friendship and we both smoked hookah … (He) was changeable man in his beliefs and believed in Talisman, prayers, mathematics and etc. when he figured out they I was professional in arithmetic, algebra and geometry, he started learning arithmetic with me to achieve his aim. He tried hard and learned adding, subtracting, multiplying and division and at last said I can’t learn arithmetic well. At Thursday night, he smoked something like wax by hookah… He asked me to smoke, too. I said to him: Why don’t you ask me to smoke hookah? He said: You haven’t been merited for secrets yet to smoke hookah. I insisted and he gave it to me to smoke… I laughed very much… I asked him one day that what was it? He said: According to learned people it is secrets and according to the public it is secrets and is just good for eating more and laughing; but Seyyed said I can decode the secret by it… I said: It was better for you to smoke it when you were learning arithmetic to learn better…

     One day, a scholar from Tabriz city asked Seyyed Kazem Rashti: Sir, where is Imam of the time now? Seyyed Kazem said: I don’t know, maybe he is here, now. However, I don’t know him. I suddenly thought to himself that Seyyed Ali Muhammad had become greedy of honors recently because of smoking hemp. I had said to him: O’ Imam of the time! Have mercy on me. I surely know that you are Imam of the time… I was determined to create at least the third difference in Shiite religion. Sometimes, I asked easy issues and he answered irrelevantly due to smoking hemp. I quickly bowed and said you are the science gate or Imam of the time. It is enough for you to hide the fact… Don’t hide yourself from me… (One day) I went to his house again and… I asked him to interpret the Amma chapter… Seyyed accepted. After smoking hemp hooka, he started writing (when Seyyed was smoking hemp, he became one of the top fast writers…); but I often corrected his materials and gave there to him in order for him to believe he was the science gate. Yes, Seyyed was the best fall guy for this action. Whether you like or not, I made Seyyed start the way and smoking hemp helped him, too… (Seyyed Ali Muhammad) was always in doubt and was afraid to claim for being Imam of the time. He was telling me: My name isn’t Mahdi. I said I name you Mahdi. Move towards Iran… I promise you to help you to such an extent that all Iranian people turn to you. You should just banish fear and doubt out of yourself… Everybody will obey you whether you say getting married of brothers and sisters are legitimate. … Seyyed had extremely desired to claim; but he didn’t dare. I went to Baqdad city and found several bottles of wine from Shiraz city to make him courageous and gave him to drink for several nights. We became gradually intimate with each other. I made him understand the materials… I intrigued him so much that it got easy for him to claim… I said to Seyyed I will give you money to claim for being the forerunner, the gate and Imam of the time. He agreed and went to Basreh and then to Boushehr city… [In our letters] he called himself the science gate and I answered back and called him Imam of the time… When he left, I announced in the holy Shrines of Iraq that the Excellency Imam of the time has been emerged and this Seyyed from Shiraz is Imam of the time[1]…”

     Generally speaking, the Baha’is consider Thursday night, Jamadi-al-ouwla, 1260 A.H. or May, 23, 1844 A.D. as the night of Maba’th of the highest point and have appointed the date as the origin of their history (Badia’). MIrza Hussein Ali Nouri has announced this day as one of the important feasts of Baha’is and has announced working at this day as illegitimate.[2]
