After riots and claims, Seyyed Ali Muhammad Bab repented from his claims; but it was superficial. Before the current repentance, he denied being the deputy and gate for imam of the Time (P.H.) in Shiraz on pulpit. After a short while, he claimed for prophethood.
At the end of Muhammad Shah's kingdom and his death (1264) riots were created in the country such as Sheikh Tabarsi fort in Mazandaran. During this riot, several Babis headed by Mullah Hussein Boshrouyee and Mullah Muhammad Ali Barforoushi appointed the fort as his base. They dug a fosse around it and prepared themselves to fight against the governmental troops. On the other side, they attacked the nearby naïve people with the excuse of apostasy and massacred. One of the Babis writes:
Some people left at night and captured the village and 130 people were killed. The rest escaped. The Excellency right disciples destroyed the village. They took provisions to the fort.
They thought they were the disciples of the promised Mahdi and would conquer the world soon. The very person writes:
The Excellency Qoddous (Muhammad Ali Barforoushi) said: "We are the right king and the world is under our seal and all Western and eastern kings will be noble."
A war wasbroken out between him and the governmental troops and their sedition ended in the victory of governmental troops and Mullah Muhammad Ali Barforoushi's murder on Jamadiul Thani 1265 A.H.
In Zanjan city, riot was broken out headed by Mullah Muhammad Ali Zanjani (in 1266 A.H.) which ended in Babis defeat. In Tehran city, a group of Babis headed by Ali Torshizi planned to kill Naseruddin Shah, Amir the great, and prayer leader on Fridays of Tehran city. However, their murder plan was discovered and 38 Babis were arrested and 7 Babis were murdered.
It is surprising that Seyyed Ali Muhammad's disciples were speaking about Islam in Tabarsi and Zanajn fort wars and were praying and advocating Babism of Seyyed Ali Muhammad.
Apparently; at that time, they were unaware of Mahdism and propehthood of Ali Muhammad Shirazi. Consequently; according to Babi historians, some Babis turned against him severely when they became aware of Seyyed Ali Muhammad claiming for being Mahdi and changing the Islamic commandments.
