Yes, Seyyed Bab couldn’t reject the issue of the absence of Imam of the Time clarified by Sunnis and Shiites’ books and traditions. However, later on, he rejected this issue and introduced himself as Imam of the Time, prophet and God.
Anyway, Seyyed Bab was sent by one of his followers. He also appointed Sobhi Azal as his successor who was the first top enemy of Mirza Baha.
Abdul Baha says in Sayyah article, p.5: “It is written in the first book interpreting Yosof chapter that he has mentioned that absent person whom he has been benefited and asked for help including this statement:
"یا بقیت الله قد فریت بکلی لک و رضیت السب... الخ"
Abdul Baha has committed a surprising crime in this statement:
1) He hasn’t mentioned the name of that absent person.
2) He has considered Mirza Baha as the absent person whom Bab has asked for his benefits and helps.
3) According to Baha’is, Mirza Baha didn’t possess any prophethood or guardianship post at that time.
4) There are hundreds of sentences in this book which aren’t applicable with Mirza (such as ویقول المشرکون من اهل الکتاب ما کنت علی الامر من عندالامام حجه الله من عند حجه القائم المنتظر)
In which the word “مشرکین” means the Excellency Imam of the Time (P.H.)
5) Abdul Baha hasn’t mentioned the previous statement before this sentence intentionally
یا سید الاکبر ما انا شی الا و قد اقامتنی قد ترک علی الامر و ما انکلت فی شیء الا علیک)
Because this sentence clarifies the guardianship, power and influence of that absent person.
6) In his current writings, how does Seyyed Bab says: I am very promised one of Islam and Imam of the Time.
7) After several years, Seyyed Bab claims for prophethood, new book and new religion. At that day, Mirza Baha still hadn’t been sent.
8) Mirza himself has clarified his obedience of Seyyed Bab in many cases such as in Badi’a (235):
فوضت امری الیک و توکلت علیک و انت حسبی و معینی و ناصری و بک اکتفیت عن الخلایق اجمعین و الحمد لک اذانک انت معبودی...[1]
