It has been narrated by Bahaullah in the book “the treasury of commandments” (p. 136) that:
Marriage means the couple participate in a place after the satisfaction of the couple and their parents and the marriage contrary sermon is being recited happily.
It has also been said in the book “the trial and investigation of Bab and Baha, Vol. 2, p. 162.
Mirza Baha has also said in the book “Aqdas”:
Marriage has been limited on the satisfaction of both sides: but we want for friendship and unity to be established; so we consider it after the satisfaction of both sides on the condition of the parents’ permission in order for hostility not to be created among people. (Afrasyabi, Bahram, the comprehensive history of Baha’ism, p. 253, 10th, Mehrfam, Tehran, 1382 S.H.
According to Baha’ism, when girl and boy are 15 years of age, they can get married, but not before this age. According to Mirza Baha’s order in the Aqdas the dowry is 19 methqal of gold for the unban people and 19 methqal of silver for the peasants. (Bahram Afrasyabi, the comprehensive history of Baha’ism, p. 374 and the trial and investigation of Bab and Baha, Vol. 2, p. 150; Muhammad Muhammadi Eshtehardi, Babism and Baha’ism, p. 198.)
Mirza Baha has said in the Aqdas regarding divorce: (P. 20, q: 2)
If a displeasure is being created between a man and a woman, the man can’t divorce his wife. He must wait for a year. (The trial and investigation of Bab and Baha, Vol. 2, p. 169)
A woman can be divorced for 19 times. Both man and woman can divorce in Baha’ism. (The comprehensive history of Baha’ism, Bahram Afrasyabi, p. 258)
Temporary Marriage: God has considered it illegitimate. Getting married with more than a wife is illegitimate. (Amerunnajjar, Al-Bahaiyeh and Jozorehal Bahaiyeh, p. 102)
In Islam, getting married with 9 groups is illegitimate; but in Baha’ism, just getting married with father’s wife is forbidden.
