Advent of The Mahdi is Qiyamat
MOHAMMED REZA ISFAHANI
Â
The Baha’i Viewpoint
The Baha’is, as is their wont, present a tradition without any reference to establish that the appearance of Qaem Ale’ Mohammed (Imam Mahdi) is the Day of Judgment (Qiyamat). They quote – “When the Qaem arises, it will be the advent of Qiyamat.â€
Our Response
1. The Baha’is have neither given neither the name of the Imam, nor any reference of the book referred to for this tradition or even the name of compiler. Pray, tell us, how is one to search for this tradition? Nevertheless, in this tech age, I searched across 3,000 Shiite and Sunni books without any success. And mind you these are books with multiple volumes – for example, Beharul Anwaar which has 110 volumes is counted only once in the list of 3,000 books. Yet where the Baha’is have extracted this elusive tradition remains a mystery.
2. The Baha’is have erred in their translation of the tradition to extract a erroneous interpretation. This tradition, in fact, supports the Shiah belief that the reappearance of Imam Mahdi will be followed by the advent of the Day of Judgment. Having said that, this tradition goes against the Baha’is themselves. This tradition supports the coming of the Day of Judgment after the reappearance of Imam Mahdi and not the advent of new prophets and messengers. Hazrat Isa (as), an existing prophet who has already appeared with his religion, and has been kept alive by Allah on the seventh heaven will descend to the earth after the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (as). In any case, as mentioned above, this tradition establishes that the Day of Judgment will follow after the advent of Imam Mahdi (as) and without the appearance of any new prophet or messenger.
