After Abbas Effendi’s death, Shoqi Effendi’s mother (Ziyaeeyeh: Abbas Effendi’s daughter) offered a will and attributed it to her father! Contrary to the Baha’is prophet, he has elected his daughter’s son (Shoqi Effendi) as the Baha’is leader. (Abdul Baha will tablets, pp. 11-12)
Consequently, some Baha’is disagreed Shoqi’s succession because they believed that will tablet have been written long before Abbas Effendi’s death and he would regret appointing Shoqi as his successor. When Shoqi gripped he confronted the opponents severely and called them stupid, deceitful, ignorant, crow, silly, and despotic! (Shoqi Effendi, the blessed writings to the east disciples, p, 320)
Generally speaking, there are two possibilities regarding Shoqi Effendi’s succession:
1) Contrary to Mirza Hussein Ali Nouri’s will, Abbas Effendi acted.
2) The will attributed to Abbas Effendi was forged. Additionally, Shoqi’s succession is null.
As the second leader of the Baha’ism cult organization, Abbas Effendi elected Shoqi as the Baha’i leader.[1] Thus, after his death, Baha’is was obliged to obey Shoqi Effendi. However, Baha’is disagreed Shoqi Effendi’s leadership. They believe that Abbas Effendi has written the will when the Ottoman government governed Palestine (when Abdul Baha thought that the Ottoman ruler was going to kill him). At that time, Shoqi was just 3 years of age.[2]
Some Baha’is believed that the original book of “will tablets” attributed to Abbas Effendi is definitely forged. They Baha’is who believe in this idea are called “the reformists”.
Frederik Glaysher leads the reformist Baha’is today.[3]
