During the history of Islam, there have been various cults which have separated from Muslims due to various events and phenomena. These cults can be divided into two groups:
Group 1: Although some cults are different in some theological issues or in interpreting those issues with Muslims; and are acting against other Muslims in secondary commandments; but they are united with them in principles and some issues such as monotheism, resurrection and etc. and believe in Hajj, fasting, prayer and etc. cults such as Ahl-e-Hadith, Mo'tazeleh, Ashaereh, Matridiyeh, Zeydieh and Wahhabism are of such cults.
Group 2: Although this group is derived from Islam; but it has been for away the religion of Islam due to going to extremes by their leaders and followers to such an extent that isn’t in common with Muslims. This group has also deviated and rejected the Islamic knowledge. For instance, the cults which are called "Ghali". The leaders of such cults have claimed for divinity and have achieved metempsychosis instead of resurrection. They have rejected praying, fasting, Hajj and etc. by justifying the origin of such duties deviantly. These cults include Ishaghieh, Horoufieh, Helmanieh and etc.
According to the above-mentioned definitions, Baha'ism can be considered as one of the Islamic cults just in investigating the history of cults and religions.
The definition of religion:
In the holy Quran, religion has been applied in various meaning such as retribution, obedience, kingdom, religious law, law, nation, surrendering and beliefs and etc.
Based on the verse: "لکم دینکم ولی دین" [Kaferoun/6], God has considered the polytheists, creed as religion. Baha'ism faith is also a kind of religion like atheists one; but according to the verse: "ان الدین عندالله الاسلام " [Al-Imran/19], the Baha'ism faith isn’t a religion; but is a separated issue and the Alien one.
Some Islamic and western speakers have defined religion: "Religion is the divine rules which have been enacted in order for the wise people to achieve benevolent." According to this definition, Baha'ism can't be assumed as a religion because the investigation of history indicates that its rules aren’t divine and it has been forged by the Colonialist and their mere instruments. Their aims were to create disunity and difference among Muslims.
