Bab, a mad man who didn’t get rid of the cage (part four)
How was Baha’ism formed?
In the chaotic political, economic and social situations in which people were waiting for the emergence of the savior, Seyyed Ali Muhammad Shirazi claimed that he himself is the awaited and promised Mahdi (P.H.). Maybe at first, he didn’t believe in being accepted by the people; but at the beginning of his invitation many people became his disciples who were Shiekis who were searching for the emergence of the absent Imam according to Shiek Ahmad Ehsaee and Seyyed Kazem Rashti.
Ali Muhammad Bab had confessed the legitimacy of Islam and the holy prophet’s prophethood and the holy Imam’s Imamate especially Imam Mahdi (P.H.) who is believed to be living.
In the first book to interpret the Yusuf Surah, Bab has written: “This is Bab who hopes: O’ remnant of God. May all my soul be the ransom. I am pleased to be insulted due to you and your path. I have no desire but being sacrificed in the path of your affection… .â€
The melancholic Bab who was observing the increase in the number of the naïve misled people gathering around him was claiming a new one intrigued by Dalgourki and the like.
In the most primary stage, Ali Muhammad invited Mulla Hussein (one of shaky faith clergymen) to his house. Nabil Zarandi writes about their first meeting:
I met a young man out of Shiraz city gate. He invited me to his house. After speaking about Seyyed Kazem Rashti and his will concerning finding the special deputy or Mahdi, he asked me is it a matter that I am that promised one. After asking this question, Mulla Hussein asked for proof and after a long discussion till the dawn, Mulla Hussein accepted his claim and believed in him.
Nabil Zarandi has just written about that event happened May 23, 1844.
‘’Nabil Zarandiâ€
The clergymen who have been familiar with the divine sciences have discovered the origin of Bab’s claim at first. The reason for this claim is Mulla Ali Bastami’s trial and the commandment issued against him or a refutal writing by Karim Khan Kermani a year after Seyyed Bab’s expressed and announced his creed. He believes that the write of the book “Qayyum-al-Asma†claims for inspiration and prophethood. Anyway, 18 people turned to those believed in Bab who are of young Shiekis. Among them, there was a woman called Qorratul Ein.
“Taherehâ€
She was Fatima Beigum, the daughter of Mulla Saleh Qazvini who was called Qorratul Ein by Seyyed Kazem Rashti. Then she was called Tahereh. Against those 17 people, Tahereh believed in Bab absently and she never met him.
