Why did the Excellency Hussein Ali Nouri asked for the Qajar court to held a meeting to do a miracle
Bahaismiran:
It has been over and over stated that one of the ways to identify and distinguish the divine prophets from the false claimants is to do miracles and extraordinary actions (based on the era[1]) to prove their righteousness. Hussein Ali Nouri, known as Bahaullah has claimed for prophethood nearly 170 years ago and because his claimed wasn’t divine and couldn’t make people believe, the Baha’i followers and head tried to reject the miracle.
Thus, one of the prominent proselytizers of Baha’ism called Golpaygani rejected the origin of miracle in his book and said: “… Bahaullah continually asked the scholars even the Iranian kings to arrange hold a meeting and select a miracle for him to perform; but the Iranian king, Naseruddin Shah and the then scholars didn’t accept and prevented holding such a meeting. If such a meeting were held, the Excellency Baha would surely perform the miracle.[2]â€
The answer to this claim: “Because the Baha’is have claimed internationally and Hussein Ali Nouri has posed his claim for the first time in Turkey (in redhvan garden in Baqdad[3]) it was better for him invite the Ottoman scholars or government to perform a miracle instead of asking king Naseruddin for 30 years to come back Iran to perform a miracle[4]. Because if Hussein Ali could do a miracle, he would perform it for the Ottoman statesmen and it wouldn’t need to ask the Iranian rulers to return to Iran. However, it is interesting to be noted that Hussein Ali Nouri and his son Abdul Baha not only didn’t invite the Ottoman statesmen to do a miracle; but also, they behaved during the time when they settled in Palestine as if they were Muslims; so the clergymen in Palestine called him the great Sheikh[5]. Also, his son, Abbas Effendi lived like Muslims and participated in Friday Prayer till the last Friday of his life time.
Nevertheless, the reason for doing a miracle in the Iranian court by Bahaullah is that because he had been exiled due to implicate king Naseruddin’s assassination and he was considered as an spy for the Russians, he was sure that the Iranian government would be disagreed about his coming back to the country to do a miracle. Consequently, offspring such issue could be beneficial for him:
1) If the Iranian government agreed him to come back to Iran to do a miracle, he would find an opportunity to organize Bab’s followers once again to achieve his aims
2) If the Iranian government didn’t agree, he would continually have an acceptable reason for not doing the miracle.
