Bahaismiran:

To recognize the deviant movements and their aims, first cult and sectarian movements must be recognized. Most newly emerged spiritual movements possess sectarian approach and act based on the sectarian features. Although some movements don’t have sectarian structure; but practically the sectarian features can be seen in them.

The definition of cult:

The word “cult” is an indication of a static and steady organization. Like the people of other groups, the members of a cult move in a special way and these ways change during the time. Due to the inner task and hidden function, cults will be changed into an unusual conditions. Consequently, it isn’t always easy for finding differences between an assembly or a real organization and a cult to be distinguished. Due to cult functions, cults can’t be supervised explicitly and closely and their activities can’t be aware. Cults act like intelligent and secret organizations and they train their followers in this regard. Due to having special teachings, they imagine they are constantly being pursued and they should hide themselves.

The sectarian relationships are important in a cult. The sectarian relationships are the ones in which a person forces other people deliberately to be dependent on him/ her completely regarding all important decisions in their lives. The followers are being infused that he/ she possess special genius or knowledge. The relationships between cult members are being determined based on the hierarchical and each member acts according to his/ her status. He/ she isn’t allowed to have non-sectarian and unusual behaviors unless leader, higher-status person or the cult head allows. The cult members must obey the cult leader in all their life decisions. Because the cult leader know the expediencies of people and the cult better.

If one of the cult members acts against the cult relationships, he/ she must be excommunicated. Because the cult members have been dependent on the cult spiritually, separating from the cult is considered as death.

Cults are authoritarian in structure:

Leader is considered as the high position. Although he/ she may assign a definite power to some people but everybody must obey him/her. Obstinacy and the behavioral despotism are of the factors which maintain the survival of cults.

Cults are superficially innovative and individualistic:

The cult leaders claim for innovating and creating the mere successful system for changes which solve the life problems and the world insufficiencies.

Cults tend to have a binary moral system:

Members are asked to be honest inside the group and to confess everything for the cult leader. Members are encouraged to deceive those who aren’t the cult members to misuse them. In contrast, Islam trains its members to be honest and bound with a collection of moralities. Islam emphasizes on not to be two-faced and to be honest with everybody. Anyway, cults believe that means justifies aim. This thesis allows the cults to create their special moralities out of the normal moral borders of society.

So, the cult followers are considering themselves as special and other people never figure them out.

Cults tend towards absolutism:

Cults possess ideology absolutism, bigotry and extremism in their worldviews. Most cults expect their members to assign time, money, energy and other resource for definite purposes. Cults dictate their members what to wear, what to eat and where and where they work.

Cults separate their members from their families:

Most cults press on their members to leave their families, friends and jobs. This technique makes members be dependent on the cult; so cults can control their members better. Families are the best and most central factor which can confess the ominous and unclean programs of the cult and notify its dangers. This issue causes many people to be saved out of being trapped in the cult. Consequently, cults try to keep people’s families be separated and away from the members.
